Jon Bonner

Training: Jon trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.

Theatre includes: Colonel Chambers (cover Glenn Miller) in The Glenn Miller Story with Tommy Steele (Bill Kenwright – UK & Ireland tour), Doc (covered and played Francis Friar) in Calamity Jane (Watermill Theatre/Jamie Wilson UK & Ireland tour) with Jodie Prenger. Other musicals include covering and playing Cookie & Bosun in Return to the Forbidden Planet (no.1 Tour), Jack in Into the Woods (York Theatre Royal directed by John Doyle), Blood Brothers (English Theatre, Frankfurt), and Bugle Boy – The Glenn Miller Musical playing Zeke Zarchy (Trumpet player) in which he also made his West End debut at the Garrick Theatre (Bruce James/David Wilder Productions).

Other theatre credits and roles include Hamlet and Col. Sam Sparkington in The Firework Makers Daughter (Theatre by the Lake, Keswick), Tom Sawyer in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (Tobacco Factory), Henry IV parts 1 & 2 (Bristol Old Vic), Malcolm in Macbeth, Tears of a Clown, Bosun in Return to the Forbidden Planet and Alice (Harrogate Theatre), From a Jack to a King (Harrogate & New Victoria Theatre, Stoke), Dick Turpin (Riding Lights Theatre Co), A Street Car Named Desire (A.D.G.E), Dennis in Murder at the Vicarage (Windsor Theatre Royal), The Wizard of Oz and Forty Years On (Palace Theatre, Westcliff).

In pantomime, Moronica, an ugly sister in Cinderella (Exeter Corn Exchange), Wishee Washee in Aladdin, Silly Billy in Mother Goose, Simple Simon in Jack & the Beanstalk (Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham) and Much the Millers Son in Robin Hood (Queens Theatre, Barnstaple).

Film and television includes: Mr Dinky in Grandpa in my Pocket, BBC Proms ident, short films Welcome to England (Artswork media) and The Road to Krichevna (HTV), Mr Foolman in the DVD Relive Parables and King Herod in Relive Christmas DVD (BTL Productions). Radio includes: Owen Skinner in Parson Skinner of Camerton with Timothy West and The Night House (BBC Radio 4)

Jon is delighted to be a part of The Commitments and thankful for all the wonderful support from his family and friends. He lives near Bristol with his wife and three children.
